Congressman Lincoln Díaz Balart was elected in 1992 to represent Florida’s 21st Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. He is currently a senior member of the House Rules Committee and the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Legislative and Budget Process. Lincoln Diaz-Balart is the first Hispanic in history to be named to the Rules Committee, which decides which legislation may reach the House Floor and what amendments may be debated.
Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart is currently serving his third term representing Florida’s 25th Congressional District. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002 after serving 14 effective years in the Florida State Legislature.
Mario Diaz-Balart is a member of the Budget Committee, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and the Science and Technology Committee. He is the founder and co chairman of the Everglades Caucus, a group dedicated to Everglades restoration and conservation and also serves as Assistant Whip and Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Conference. He continues to actively work toward securing additional funding under the Water and Resources Development Act (WRDA).
“Issues: Caras y Voces” features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzmán. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzmán is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington.
