San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom Talks About Immigration and Drugs on Azteca America’s  ‘Issues: Caras y Voces’

Washington DC, October 7, 2009 – Azteca America television network is proud to feature Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on this week’s broadcast of  “Issues: Caras y Voces,”  hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzmán.

As a student activist and labor organizer, Mayor Villaraigosa has a long history of community organizing, skills that have served him well in the sphere of Los Angeles politics. Although he has declined a run for the 2010 California gubernatorial election, there’s no ruling him out for 2014 and the platform of Los Angeles is also an interest gateway onto the national political scene.

“As the first (Latino), I have the responsibility to open the door of opportunity to others and I have always tried to open coalitions,” said Mayor Villaraigosa during the interview.

“Issues: Caras y Voces” features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzmán. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzmán is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington. The interview forum airs every Tuesday evening during Noticiero Azteca America, the network news broadcast of Azteca America.

Past guests of “Issues: Caras y Voces” include: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Mel Martinez (FL), Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA), Senator Harry Reid (NV), former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano,  Congressman José E.
